Brown Family

The family of Lt Warren Brown stands by the brown memorial in the parking lot of the Bellas Hess Superstore. Sioux City, Iowa May 1969. On 14 July 1968, 1st Lt Warren K. Brown was on an air strike mission in the AShau Valley. (Vietnam) As he made his pass over the target area, his aircraft was hit by ground fire. He headed in an easterly direction and bailed out shortly afterwards as his aircraft was on fire. During the ejection, there was a chute entanglement and the pilot was found deceased in his chute harness by a helicopter crew. Brown was the only pilot of the Sioux City based 185th Air National Guard to be killed in Vietnam.
