An F-22 assigned to the 3rd Wing receives gas from a KC-135 assigned to Iowa’s Air National Guard, 185th Air Refueling Wing. The KC-135 crew from Sioux City, Iowa spent a week in Alaska refueling active duty and Reserve F-22 pilots assigned to the 3rd Wing and 477th Fighter Group. Osprey Fuel Stop
A U.S. Marine Corps V-22 Osprey makes a short fuel stop at the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday September 27th. The Iowa National Guard unit is located near the geographical center of the continental United States and often serves an oasis for military air crew traveling cross country.

A KC-135 on the ramp in Sioux City, Iowa is the backdrop to a digital thermometer illustrating the temperature in Sioux City on July 25, 2012. Day time high temperatures have been in the high 90’s and consistently breaking 100 degree mark for most of June and July in Iowa. 185th Restores Classic A-7 Corsair
An A-7K model is in front of the Air National Guard Paint Facility in Sioux City, Iowa after receiving new metal work and fresh paint. The Corsair will eventually be featured at the Iowa National Guard’s Gold Star Museum at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa. The paint scheme depicts the colors used in the mid 1980’s when the aircraft was used as the Air Forces primary air to ground attack aircraft. The 185th Air National Guard unit in Sioux City, Iowa, flew the A-7K “Corsairs” from 1977 until converting to the F-16 Falcons in 1991. The 185th now flies KC-135s and conducts air refueling missions across the globe. Air Force Photo by Master Sgt. Vincent De Groot. Released.
