Wyrick Lightens the Mood at Military Ball
South Sioux City, NEB --
Colonel (Dr.) Brett A. Wyrick, a retired National Guard Air Surgeon, and current Director of the Medical Services for the Air National Guard, spoke at the 185th Air Refueling Wing's (ARW) Military Ball Saturday evening at the Marina Inn in South Sioux City, Neb.
The past year has been challenging for the 185th members. With continued overseas commitments, the looming threat of budget cuts, flood relief operations, and the day-to-day stresses inherent in a war time military, the men and women of the 185th used the military ball to relax and enjoy the camaraderie.
Col. Wyrick's presentation was inspirational, yet gracefully kept the mood light with his own unique brand of humor. He shared stories of his experiences as a surgeon in Iraq during the initial invasion. Wyrick emphasized the humor in what typically is a stressful experience.
Colonel Wyrick closed with his assertion that the Air Force mission could not continue to function without the commitment of the Air Refueling community. "The prominence of our Air Force today is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of our nation's Guardsmen like you. I am proud to be here tonight."
Following the speech Col. Brian Miller, Commander of the 185th ARW, presented Wyrick with a gift from the men and women of the 185th.
