On November 7, 2009, approximately 400 members of the 185th Air Refueling Wing (ARW) and guests attended the Military Ball held at the Marina Inn Conference Center in Sioux Sioux City, NE.

Col. John Mansfield (ret.) was the guest speaker for this year's Military Ball. Mansfield graduated from Sioux City Bishop Heelan High School in 1965 and joined the Army. He attended Officer Candidate School and found himself leading a mortar platoon in Vietnam in 1967. Based on his experience and the memories and testimonies of several soldiers who survived this deadly period, Mansfield wrote the book "Twenty Days in May, Vietnam 1968." His speech covered the importance of leadership, not just in the military but life in general, and the "ah-ha" moments in life.

Col. Brian Miller, 185th ARW Commander, congratulated the group on a job well done and the excellent performance reports on our members deployed around the world.

Also attending the ball were Gen. Orr, Iowa Adjutant General and Gen. Schwab, Assistant Adjutant General, Air.
