Chief Master Sergeant Ronald C. Lorenzen

CMSgt Ronald C. Lorenzen Jr. is the Wing Command Chief at the 185th Air Refueling Wing, Iowa Air National Guard, Sioux City, Iowa. In this role his responsibilities include advising the Wing Commander on matters influencing health, welfare, morale, and effective utilization of Wing enlisted personnel. He serves as representative to the Wing Commander and represents the Wing enlisted force on various committees, councils, and boards, and represents the Wing enlisted force at military and civilian functions.

CMSgt Lorenzen began his military career under the delayed enlisted program in November of 1992. He graduated technical training in May of 1993, as an Aerospace Maintenance Journeyman. His first assignment as a crew chief was on the KC-10A, within the 9th Air Refueling Squadron, March AFB, CA. After the BRAC of 1995, he accepted a PCS to the 660th AGS, Travis AFB, CA; where he completed his active duty career in June of 2000. In May of 2001, he joined the 185th FW, as a Drill Status Guardsmen, and began the transition to become a crew chief on the F-16. In December of 2002, he was hired fulltime to the newly expanded Night Shift, as an Aerospace Maintenance Craftsman, for the conversion to the KC-135E; and then in 2007, the KC-135R. In December of 2007, Chief Lorenzen was hired to the position of Night Shift Supervisor, where he served until September of 2015. He then transitioned to day shift after being chosen to be a Flight Chief. In September of 2018, Chief Lorenzen was selected as the Superintendent of the Quality Assurance Office. As the QA Superintendent, he further developed the Maintenance Standardization Evaluation Program and Evaluation and Inspection Plan. Programs that enhanced the Unit Self-Assessment Program and enabled the Maintenance Group to continuously improve processes through trend and root cause analysis. In May of 2020, Chief Lorenzen was designated the Maintenance Group Superintendent until Oct of 2021 when he assumed the responsibility of the Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant position. CMSgt Lorenzen has participated and deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, PHOENIX SCORPION I, II, and III, DESERT FOX, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, FREEDOM SENTINEL, and INHERENT RESOLVE.
