Colonel Trenton N. Twedt

Colonel Trenton N. Twedt is the Maintenance Group Commander, 185th Air Refueling Wing, Sioux City, Iowa. In this role, he is responsible for the manning, training and readiness of 240 Maintenance Group personnel. His leadership expertise provides quality aircraft and equipment maintenance, sortie generation and munitions required by the wing to produce over 900 sorties and 3,400 flight hours annually. In addition, he directs the one and only Air National Guard Paint Facility which has painted over 650 aircraft and achieved $57.6 million in cost avoidance to the Air National Guard.
 
Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Twedt was the Director of Staff, Joint Forces Headquarters, Iowa Air National Guard, Johnston, Iowa.
 
Colonel Twedt enlisted in the Air Force on 26 September 1986 and served as an avionics technician for nine years. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and was commissioned in 1999 through the Academy of Military Science. Since his commissioning and current assignment, he has served as a Transportation Officer, Security Forces Squadron commander, Executive Officer to the Adjutant General, Installation Deployment Officer, Logistics Operations Officer, Force Support Squadron commander, Maintenance Squadron commander, Intelligence Squadron commander and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group commander. He has served on contingency deployments to Ramstein Air Base, Germany; Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan and Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Throughout his maintenance career Colonel Twedt worked on various aircraft including the B-52G/H, T-43A, T-37B and F-16C/D.
