The wing is also tasked to support the state of Iowa during state emergencies where they have provided, and continue to be ready to provide for humanitarian and national disaster response.

"We would not be able to do this without the support of our communities, our family members, employers and civic leaders. Our members serve proudly and they are a great reflection of the communities they come from. Their commitment as well as the commitment of our communities is crucial to our success," Christensen added.

According to the Outstanding Unit Award citation, the 185th has continued to regularly provide mission capable aircraft and Airmen for deployments around the world for both flying and mission support operations.
