Senior Master Sgt. Michael Peters promoted to Chief Master Sgt.

Senior Master Sgt. Michael Peters was promoted to the rank of Chief Master Sgt.  during a formal ceremony at the 185th Air Refueling Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard on December 7, 2019.

Peters will serve as the fire emergency services traditional Fire Chief at the 185th ARW. In his position as Fire Chief he will manage training and assignments of units traditional guardsmen assigned to the 185th fire department.

Peters originally enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1990 where he worked as an F-16 Avionics Specialist. He was assigned to both Osan and Kunsan Air Base’s in Korea as well as Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

After a short break in service Peters joined the 185th ARW in 1996 in the base fire department, eventually becoming employed full time in the fire department as a state employee. As a member of the 185th fire department Peters has deployed to Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and most recently was assigned as the Installation Fire Chief in Agadez, Niger.
