Odell to be installed as 185th Command Chief

Chief Master Sgt. Justin Odell of Sioux City, Iowa was recently selected to become the newest Command Chief of the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa.

A formal change of responsibility ceremony for Chief Odell is planned for Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the 185th Air Refueling Wing.

The Minneapolis, Minn. native enlisted in the active-duty Air Force in September 2007. After completing basic training, Odell completed Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Specialist School at Fairchild AFB, Washington.

After serving on active duty for eight years, Odell made his way to the 185th ARW’s Operation Group through the Air Force Palace Chase Program eventually becoming the Senior Enlisted Leader.

At the ceremony Odell will formally take over as the Wing’s Command Chief from, Chief Master Sgt. Ron Lorenzen. Chief Lorenzen is retiring after 30 years of service and has served as Command Chief since 2021.

As Command Chief, Odell will serve as the Wing Commanders key enlisted advisor.

Members of the media are invited to attend a formal change of responsibility ceremony for Chief Odell on Sunday in the185th ARW main hangar located at the Sioux City airport.
