The July RATS meeting was held at the Pizza Ranch in Sergeant Bluff and 60 RATS and their spouses or guests were in attendance.
We were honored to have Col. Brian Miller at the meeting. He told the group that several members of the unit would be returning soon after a deployment in the War on Terror. He also invited everyone to a ceremony on July 14 at 10 a.m. to dedicate the Warren Brown memorial at the Sioux Gateway Airport Bud Day Field. Col Miller was asked why we no longer have a Bat Scan newsletter. "If you want to have the Bat Scan back call Lt. Col. Stephanie Samenus at 233-0809," Miller said.
RATS president Larry Harrington told the group that there is a change in the meeting schedule for August and September. The meeting places for those two months had to be switched because the 185th will be having an inspection in September. The August meeting will now be held at the base and the September meeting will be at the American Legion in Sergeant Bluff.
Harrington said he will try to get some speakers to talk about insurance and other issues of importance to retirees at a future meeting.
The next meeting will be August 7 at the 185th ARW dining hall. Hope to see you there.
