A new Air Force wide program has the Air National Guard working with the active Air Force, in order to offer a first of its kind regional in-residence Airman Leadership Course.
Guard members from the Iowa and Nebraska Air Guard, attending Airman Leadership School at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska are among the first in the nation to attend the course along with their active duty counterparts as part of a new Air Force wide initiative.
Air Guard members from Iowa’s 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, 132nd Wing in Des Moines and Nebraska’s 155th Air Refueling Wing in Lincoln, are now attending Airman Leadership at the Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James M. McCoy Airman Leadership School at Offutt Air Force Base.
During the six-week-long class these future NCO’s learn leadership skills as they prepare to become first line supervisors.
Instructors say doing a combined class like the one at Offutt Air Force Base is more than just the in-residence experience. They say the continuity in training also serves to further blur the lines between the next generation of active and reserve component NCO’s.
The second group of National Guard and Reserve members will graduate at a ceremony at Offutt Air Force Base tonight.
