Each year, during Christmas the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing decorates the KC-135 Stratotanker tail that is on static display near the entrance of the Sioux City, Iowa based Air Guard unit.

During the early morning hours of December 12, 2019 a full moon was slowly setting behind the static display and presented a particular dramatic backdrop for the tail that is on display.

The 185th flies the KC-135 mid-air refueling aircraft that is represented by the KC-135 tail that is on display.

The 185th ARW often has at least some unit members who are away from home during the holiday season. For unit members who are not able to be home this holiday season, a few photos as a postcard from home.
